I'm about to upgrade our clouds from Ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04 LTS
What is the recommended Ubuntu version for stability and security of long running processes (java)? That seems to be the theme of 10.04 LTS, but I've been reading about CPU spikes and issues on EC2 (see below). Can someone make a recommendation between 10.04 LTS, 11.04 and 11.10
I'm assuming this has long been resolved, but figure it is worth checking: https://silverline.librato.com/blog/main/EC2_Users_Should_be_Cautio...
Thanks..

Those reported 10.04 LTS problems are fixed some time ago by Ubuntu and recent images/kernels don't have that bug anymore.
We're running 10.04 LTS ourself in production for a long time without any issues.
I would recommend 10.04 LTS for now. We are working on & testing 12.04 LTS which will be available in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Jonathan! 10.04LTS it is.
Is there any reason to just wait and go with 12.04 LTS?

Only if you need newer packages. But if you run fine on 9.10 you probably don't :-)
10.04 LTS will be good (== getting security updates ) until April 2015, see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS
